Sergio Palleroni Lecture & Workshop
On October 20th & 21st 2009, the National Public Housing Museum, the City Design Center and CONVERGE:EXCHANGE presented a lecture & workshop with Sergio Palleroni.
Sergio Palleroni is an architect, professor, and fellow at the new Center for Sustainable Practices and Processes and is internationally known for his social and environmental activism. The lecture highlighted his architectural activist design philosophy and showcase examples of his work. Palleroni is also co-founder of the BASIC Initiative, a service learning program for students in various partner universities. The lecture was followed by a moderated panel between Palleroni and invited representatives from Chicago’s non-profit building industry.
LECTURE/OCTOBER 20TH
The event will commence with a lecture by Sergio Palleroni, on October 20, 2009 at the Graham Foundation which will highlight his architectural activist design philosophy and showcase examples of his work. The lecture will be followed by a moderated panel between Mr. Palleroni and invited stakeholders from Chicago’s non-profit building industry. This event will be FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
WORKSHOP/OCTOBER 21ST
The second day of the event, October 21, 2009 will comprise of a workshop with Mr. Palleroni, for architects, artists, educators and community organizations in Chicago who wish to be or are already engaged in activist design or design/build projects. This discussion will consider how to solicit community input, obtain funding and university support, represent the culture of the people and communities they are working with, and create social and community sustainability.
